De nieuwe veiligheidsstrategie van de VS lijkt er economisch gezien vooral op uit te zijn om Europa uit elkaar te spelen. Voor de rest is het economisch gezien weinig rationeel, ziet Amerikakenner Kenneth Manusama. 'Het hele economische beleid is ideologisch gedreven. Dat betekent wat mij betreft per definitie irrationeel.'
