BRICS-landen die proberen de dollar als belangrijkste sleutelvaluta te ondermijnen kunnen importheffingen van 100 procent tegemoet zien. Met dat dreigement probeert Donald Trump de dollar te beschermen. 'Hij gaat niet tolereren dat andere landen aan die hegemonie van de dollar gaan tornen', zegt BNR's huiseconoom Han de Jong. 'Dit is wel heftig.'
