In de afgelopen vijftig jaar was de Nederlandse staatsschuld nog nooit zo laag als nu: 42,2 procent van het bbp. De Nederlandse staatsschuld behoort daarmee (opnieuw) tot de laagste van Europa. De Nederlandse schatkist is de coronaschulden volop te boven, want in 2020 lag de staatsschuld nog op 54 procent. Dat die schuld zo snel omlaag dook, hebben we stiekem ook een beetje te danken aan de hoge inflatie, zegt BNR’s huiseconoom Han de Jong.
