De prijs van koffie bereikte woensdag het hoogste niveau sinds 1977. De prijs van Arabicakoffiebonen, die vaak worden gebruikt voor speciale koffies zoals espresso, is dit jaar al met bijna 70 procent gestegen. Ook de goedkopere Robusta-bonen, die voornamelijk in instantkoffie worden gebruikt, stegen met 7,7 procent. Dit is bijna het dubbele van de prijs aan het begin van het jaar.
