Brussel wil dat Nederland meer bezuinigt om te voorkomen dat de overheidsuitgaven op de middellange termijn boven de Europese normen uitkomen. Het begrotingstekort van Nederland zal volgens de Europese Commissie naar verwachting stijgen van 0,2 procent in 2024 naar 2,4 procent in 2026.
