De Europese Commissie heeft een plan gepresenteerd om minder afhankelijk te worden van China voor kritieke grondstoffen. Op dit moment komt meer dan 90 procent van deze grondstoffen uit China. Benjamin Sprecher, industrieel ecoloog aan de TU Delft, is sceptisch over de effectiviteit van het plan. ‘Wij hebben ook al die spullen in de grond zitten, maar we investeren helemaal niks in onze kennisbasis.’
