De Democratische Conventie in Chicago staat op het punt van beginnen en trapt meteen af met een speech van president Joe Biden, die daarna de weg vrij mag maken voor zijn opvolger. Deze conventie wordt namelijk ook het moment waarin de Democraten Kamala Harris officieel kiezen als nieuwe presidentskandidaat. Volgens Amerikacorrespondent Jan Postma komt dat de sfeer in ieder geval ten goede.
