Uit onderzoek van de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) blijkt dat cashgeld in Europa nog steeds het populairste betaalmiddel is. 52 procent van de Europese betalingen gaat in cash. Dit geldt niet voor Nederland, waar slechts 20 procent van de betalingen contant gaan. ‘De Nederlandse betalingsinfrastructuur maakt pinnen makkelijker dan in andere landen’, zegt Frank van der Horst van De Nederlandse Bank (DNB).
