And apparently many see this one passage of scripture to justify a paid clergy, with the right to lord over God's heritage, to demand financial support for peddling the Word of God for profit, to be the only one entitles to "preach the sermon" since he got a seminary education that he paid the religious system for, to claim lofty titles for themselves like doctor, reverend, or Father, and to "lead us to the Lord in prayer" as some spiritual mediator? Boy, that's alot of doctrine that the religious system has made from one verse that never mentions ANY of this. ! So, if you wish to justify the modern day clergyman, called "the pastor" in a comment, First, would you please answer the following questions first: Why did Peter tell elders NOT TO lord over God's heritage? Isn't that what modern day clergy do? WHy did Jesus say to His disciples, that the gentiles have those in authority over them, to rule OVER them, BUT IT SHALL NOT BE SO AMONG YOU? Why did Paul say he did NOT "peddle the Word of God for profit"? When did sermons replace a simple reading of the scriptures? Where are we taught about "the worship service" in scripture? Where did Jesus send Peter, James, John, etc. to seminary? When did Paul collect money for "a church building fund"? Why do the clergy disregard Jesus teaching on the use of religious titles?
