Madison Square Garden Sports Corp.’s board of directors approved a plan to explore spinning off the NBA’s New York Knicks and NHL’s New York Rangers, a move that would make it easier to attract investors to the teams.  Bloomberg's Randall Williams has the details and joined Tom Keene and Paul Sweeney on Bloomberg Surveillance. Randall notes that few sports conglomerates are worth more than the combined value of the Knicks and Rangers, who both play at Madison Square Garden, one of the most famous arenas in the world. That brought the total for last week to $4.8 billion, a 12% increase from the previous week.The Bank of America team said that along with the Seattle Seahawks, who soundly defeated the New England Patriots, Kalshi was the day’s big winner. Until this season, it hadn’t played in a major bowl game in decades. And while the University of Miami was a football powerhouse in the 1980s and ‘90s, it last won a championship in 2001.Both schools have showered lavish pay packages on head coaches credited with turning their programs around. Indiana’s Curt Cignetti, who took the helm in late 2023, earns average annual compensation of $11.6 million. Miami’s Mario Cristobal is in the middle of a 10-year deal that pays just over $8 million annually. As a condition of the proposed deal, which came on the ninth day of a trial, NASCAR will amend the terms for existing charter holders, which will include a form of “evergreen” charters. Jordan’s team, 23XI Racing, and another plaintiff team, Front Row Motorsports Inc., will have chartered-team status for the 2026 season under the deal, according to a statement from the teams’ lead attorney, Jeffrey Kessler of Winston & Strawn LLP. Chartered teams are guaranteed racing slots in NASCAR’s elite Cup Series. Netflix also won the rights to the Field of Dreams game, which is played where the movie Field of Dreams was made in Iowa. ESPN will air around 30 regular-season games, as it did previously, and now also has the rights to market MLB.TV as part of its ESPN streaming service. MLB.TV lets subscribers watch games outside the markets where they live. US Magistrate Judge Joseph Marutollo released Clase on $600,000 bond and restricted his travel to New York and Ohio. Federal prosecutors charged Clase, 27, and teammate Luis Ortiz, 26, last week of conspiring with bettors to throw specific types and speeds of pitches in exchange for bribes. On some occasions, Clase allegedly bet on his own pitches. The friend, Deniro Laster, used the tip to place more than $200,000 in bets predicting Rozier would fall short of his usual point total.By the next morning, federal prosecutors say, the two men were counting their winnings together in Rozier’s home.
