The Bills open with four of the first five games at home, along with the last two in 2025 in a schedule where they'll face six playoff teams that spreads out favorably. As the 2024 season came to a close again short of the Super Bowl, there was an all too familiar theme: The Bills had come up short on defense. Cornerback and defensive line, not necessarily in that order, were the biggest areas of need for the Buffalo Bills heading into the draft, and that's exactly where GM Brandon Beane went over the first three rounds. The NFL Draft begins Thursday night and the Bills will start the first round with the 30th pick. Will they stay put, will they trade up or trade back? It's been a solid offseason for the Buffalo Bills. Back in 1997, the Bills were thinking about who might eventually replace Hall of Fame defensive end Bruce Smith. They drafted Marcellus Wiley in the second round out of Columbia that year with that possibility in mind. Wiley eventually did that in 2000 when Smith moved on to Washington. He wound up playing ten seasons in the NFL for the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars. He was a player that provided answers on the field, and was never at a loss for words off of it. Not surprisingly, he went on to broadcasting success with ESPN and FS1 among other outlets.
