Rube began 1900 in Pittsburgh, where he continued to clash with his manager, Fred Clarke, over things like missing a game because he had purchased a new puppy.
Soon he would be off to a new team, but it would be the same old Rube.

There were numerous sources for Rube’s story, he’s now one of the most written about baseball stars of that era. The bible on his life however is Rube Waddell: The Zany, Brilliant Life of a Strikeout Artist by Alan H. Levy. It’s well worth a read.
