James Ek, a 42-year-old man from Mandan, faces severe charges following a fatal hit-and-run incident on I-94 near Valley City last December. Ek allegedly struck Troy Lien, 27, who was outside his disabled vehicle, and fled the scene. Lien, a Valley City resident, died from his injuries. Ek was arrested this week and charged with murder, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and DUI. His bond is set at one million dollars, with a preliminary hearing scheduled soon.
