Teen Charged with Capital Murder in Huffman High Seniors Shooting Death
A seventeen-year-old from Birmingham is facing a capital murder charge in the shooting death of eighteen-year-old Ronald Bennett Junior, a Huffman High School senior. The teen, currently held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail, was transferred from the Ross G. Bell Juvenile Detention Center after prosecutors filed the murder charge in May 2025. Bennett was shot near a wrecked vehicle on Eighth Terrace West in the College Hills neighborhood just after midnight on February 1, 2025. Investigators believe Bennett was a targeted victim, cutting short his life just before graduation. The case is still developing, with more details expected as the investigation continues.
