Childersburg, Alabama, introduces new rules to combat homelessness, allowing police to connect individuals with real help instead of just moving them along. The city council passed an ordinance enabling police to enforce against camping or sleeping on public property and in vehicles parked there. With the help of local residents and Altapointe Mental Health, the initiative has already led to a homeless person being placed in a Section eight apartment. The community is rallying together to support those in need, and the early results show a decrease in visible homelessness.
