Birmingham eighth graders from South Hampton K-eight School have made it to the top ten national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition. Their innovative project, a solar-powered storm warning system, was inspired by the 2011 Pratt City tornado. Theyre aiming for a $10,000 public vote bonus and a chance at $100,000 in prizes.
