Linda Stone coined the phrase continuous partial attention. Stone also coined "email apnea" which means "a temporary absence or suspension of breathing, or shallow breathing, while doing email."

And it's all the more interesting because she has a real tech background… at a very high level. She was at Apple, in the early early early days. She was a Microsoft Vice President. And then she became a celebrated thinker and writer about the world we live in.
