In this episode of Million Dollar Mastermind podcast, Host Larry Weidel is joined by Steffany Hanlen, CEO of Skatetech Group of Companies. They discuss why you should always trust your gut feeling; why you need to embrace adversity instead of fearing it; and how public speaking can be made easier for those who have never done it before.
Key highlights include:
- Steffany has one piece of advice for those in entrepreneurship: if in doubt, don’t. It takes a lot to train yourself into that mindset, after all, how do you tell the difference between a doubtful thought and genuine anxiety? But, usually, your gut is always right, so trust it!
- Instead of fearing adversity, you need to embrace it. Champions don’t fear such a thing. Steffany recalls a story about a trainee who had to face terrible adversity the day before competing in the olympics; they had to ground themselves and prepare themselves for it all in 24 hours. All of Steffany’s coaching had led them to that moment, and it paid off.
- Public speaking is, naturally, very daunting; speaking to countless unknown people can create a type of anxiety unique to that situation. But, as Steffany puts it, you can link public speaking back to various times in your life when you’ve spoken to even just a room of your friends, or in a meeting at work. You just need to get the confidence and build yourself up for it.
