- God instructed Moses and Aaron to confront Pharaoh again and perform miraculous signs to demonstrate God's power.
- Aaron's staff turned into a serpent before Pharaoh, but Pharaoh's magicians replicated the feat.
- God then sent a series of plagues upon Egypt, starting with turning the Nile River into blood.
