Leadership, in one form or another, begins at home. As teenagers grow in maturity, something often awakens within them... a sort of an emerging identity that hints at a future leader. Over time, that ability becomes visible to others. It shows up in the marketplace, in the church, and in the everyday spaces where responsibility is tested. As their skill is recognized, opportunities expand. Some become managers, pastors, and community leaders. A few, those especially gifted and disciplined, rise to become CEOs of major organizations or Lead Pastors of large congregations. Each episode in this series is rooted first in what I learned personally through my successes and failures, and the long process of applying biblical leadership principles. I draw from the teachings of Jesus Christ, the examples of leaders throughout Scripture, and even the cautionary lessons found in the unrighteous acts of God’s people. These episodes reflect what I did, how I led, what I taught, when I succeeded, and when I fell short. This series is also shaped by nearly a decade of presenting Christian leadership seminars across the United States, as well as in West Africa, Europe, and Canada. Every lesson is grounded in Scripture, influenced by the lives of great biblical leaders, and refined through real-world experiences, ... both the good and the painful. The skill then becomes evident to others, in the marketplace and in the church they attend. Recognition of their skill is confirmed by others, responsibilities expand, and some of them become managers, pastors and leaders. Each episode is rooted in the lessons I learned first, then gleaned from my mistakes and attempted to apply the principles of biblical leadership from Jesus Christ and the leaders in the Bible from both the righteous acts and unrighteous acts of the followers of God. trailerThis trailer sets the tone for what trailers are meant to do, it offers a glimpse of what’s ahead. It previews the themes and direction of future episodes, while also introducing me, Ron Porter, your host. There are countless leadership podcasts, books, and conferences out there. But what I bring is different: My journey began at age 16, and the lessons I’ve learned over a lifetime of leadership, both in the church and beyond, offer a more relatable listening experience for everyday people, especially for those who haven’t yet understood or seen how God develops the leaders He chooses.
