In this Bonus Episode, we feature an interview Brian did with Joel Cummins of Umphrey's McGee just prior to the band's July 7 show at Red Rocks Amphitheater. In addition to the interview, Joel requested we showcase the band's excellent jam off "Divisions" from July 5, the band's first performance of the song in 66 shows.
Umphrey's McGee is a band that took both Dave & Brian some time to really "get." But once we did, they proved to be yet another obsession - much like Phish - with a wealth of music, history, and easter eggs one can get lost in for years before ever finding the bottom. In this interview, Brian & Joel discuss the band's dedication to fan service, what a great show feels like, why some songs weave in and out of the rotation, his own musical roots, and what he's listening to right now. All this prior to the band's third night at Red Rocks where they'd feature killer performances of "Dump City", "Women Wine & Song", "Ocean Billy", "Wappy Sprayberry" and "All In Time".
