
Barbara Tannenbaum and the History of the Castro
Barbara Tannenbaum is an award-winning journalist and author who writes essays on arts and culture for top publications like the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. She also creates content for museums such as the Oakland Museum of California and the California Academy of Sciences. Barbara once served as Vice President of the Castro District’s Rainbow Honor Walk, celebrating LGBTQ pioneer activists. An activist herself, she’s now a strategic advisor for the Friends of Harvey Milk Plaza, working to make it a welcoming community space in the Castro.
