Episode #19: Cutting Edge Medicine with Dr. Neil Nathan, MD

Why You Should Listen: In this episode, you will learn about mold illness, cell danger response, mast cell activation, and much more. About My Guest: My guest for this episode is Dr. Neil Nathan, MD. Dr. Nathan is a Board-Certified Family Physician and a Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine. From the time he began medical school at the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine, it has always been his passion to try to help as many of patients as possible. He was never satisfied with sending patients home with the cliché: "Sorry, we just don't have any answers for you." In a career of more than 40 years, he has delivered babies, done surgery, and worked in the emergency room but over the years found other disciplines that held the promise of providing more useful answers for those patients that did not respond adequately to conventional care. Over time, he found himself working mostly with patients who had not received a clear diagnosis from conventional medicine and were suffering with persistent and debilitating illnesses. These included Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Lyme disease with its co-infections, mold illness, Autism, and all varieties of Chronic Pain, amongst others. Dr. Neil Nathan is honored to have been the recipient of the First Annual Rich van Konynenburg Award from the Seeking Health Educational Institute Conference coordinated by Dr. Ben Lynch. Dr. Nathan worked with Dr. Konynenburg in completing research on methylation chemistry in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia which helped to launch the profound increase in interest in this subject on an international level. He is an author with several books available on Amazon.com including "On Hope and Healing: For Those Who Have Fallen Through the Medical Cracks", "Healing Is Possible: New Hope for Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Persistent Pain, and Other Chronic Illnesses" and his latest "Mold & Mycotoxins: Current Evaluation and Treatment 2016" which is a personal favorite. Many of his patients simply cannot take even miniscule doses of herbs, or homeopathic remedies without a profound reaction. While their physicians, who may never have seen such sensitivities, diagnose them as having depression and anxiety, these reactions are not psychogenic, but physical. He continues to develop new strategies and treatments to help these patients recover their health. Key Takeaways: What tests are useful for exploring mold in the environment? How is RealTime Labs urine mycotoxin testing helpful? What is his basic approach to treating the mold patient? What do you treat first - Lyme or mold? What is Cell Danger Response and what research is underway in this area? What is Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, what triggers it, and how is it treated? What is the role of viruses in chronic illness? Should we be looking at SNPs when exploring methylation? Henein directed the 2010 documentary, "Vanishing of the Bees" narrated by Ellen Page. Since the release of Vanishing of the Bees, Henein has become an outspoken advocate of bees and bee colonies, non-GMO foods, and the release of pesticides into the environment. Dr Gupta feels his role is to provide information, support and guidance, but the results an individual gets will depend primarily on their actions, and the way they live. This learning process is something we all have to go through. A doctor in the purest sense is a teacher, an educator and an inspiration for others. Dr. Gupta doesn't aim treat "diseases", but rather to help clients to learn to treat their own underlying physical, emotional and spiritual factors to address the causes of disease. Episode #6: Debugging Your Health with Susan Luschas, PhD

Why You Should Listen: In this episode, you will learn how a PhD from MIT in science and engineering used her engineering mind, energetic medicine, and muscle testing to recover her family's health from Lyme disease and autism. Enjoy! About My Guest: My guest for this episode is Susan Luschas. Susan is an MIT trained PhD, scientist, and engineer. Why would a PhD from MIT start debugging her own family's health, and why in the world would she create DebugYourHealth.com? Susan's family was a normal family of four - or as she says as normal as can be with two engineering PhD parents can get. Her oldest daughter started showing concerning behaviors around age 2. She was skipping meals, had a distended belly, was vomiting, had nausea, and weight loss. They did the doctor parade and had diagnoses from dysbiosis to allergies to failure to thrive. Her health continued to spiral downward and at age 4, she had such pain that she could not walk and had full-blown autism. She was rocking back and forth in a dark corner and lost her ability to speak. As if that wasn't enough for a family to contend with, Susan, her younger daughter, and her husband all later became ill. We'll let her tell us how that happened. What drew me to Susan's story was how she applied her engineering mind and problem solving skills to essentially become her family's doctor and to debug their health. As I personally am a big fan of various forms of energetic testing, I loved the part of the story where Susan, an MIT PhD, used muscle testing and other forms of energetic testing to help guide her family out of the darkness. And even cooler, she did it. Key Takeaways: How did Susan's daughter become ill and then how did this lead to her entire family becoming ill? How did she use muscle testing and other forms of energetic medicine to guide her family's path? How did she explore and address parasites? What was her own journey with dental cavitations?
