Ah and we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that single bachelor in Tampa Bay, Tom Brady. For as critical the quarterback play is, do not undercut the importance of coaching and preparation. Brian Daboll is getting a ton of love and could be the NFL Coach of the Year. For as masterful as he is, what wonders can he do for a New York Giants team that looks outmatched on paper? We think this will be a helluva game. Brandon Staley has rolled things back a little bit on the aggressive side, but now he sees Doug Pederson in Jacksonville. (43:02) With Tennessee losing to the Bengals, a glimmer of hope has been provided for Indy and now they must handle business against a youthful Steelers squad. With two teams sub .500 doing battle in primetime for Monday Night Football, we have to acknowledge what teams in that same category did coming up big on Sunday. Jaguars got a massive push from Trevor Lawrence in the closing seconds of their comeback win and Josh Jacobs dragged a hapless Raiders team over the finish line in overtime. Las Vegas might not have picked up his 5th year option but it's evident he will be getting paid this off-season. Eagles continue to be the pace car in the NFC and they don't have many holes. A big, confident, strong group got a slight scare from the Packers but in the end, their ground and pound approach put Green Bay to bed. Washington continues to yell at anyone who wants to listen. Winners of three straight, the Commanders are 7-5 and tied with the Giants for third in the East division, but are also in a playoff spot. Patrick Mahomes wasn't electric against the Rams but he didn't have to be. Tua did what was needed against the Texans and kept the Dolphins atop the AFC East. The latest loss to the New York Jets and it comes with an injury to Josh Allen. You can tell a lot by a team that gets kicked around but responds the following week and that's exactly what Robert Saleh's Jets did. One week after getting humbled by the Patriots they respond by limiting the Bills offense. Up next, the Patriots again. Turmoil in Indy at the quarterback position has led to a firing of Frank Reich. Kansas City got into another dog fight with Mike Vrabel's Titans. Yes, Malik Willis can't throw the football but the Titans continue to muck things up against Mahomes & Co. It's not the sexiest thing to do see, but damn it, it's still good football. Speaking of good ball, how about the chops Jacksonville showed? Trailing by double digits to the Raiders and yet the Jaguars erased a 17 point deficit to win. Josh McDaniels and his staff are on thin ice. The nails and coffin are being put to work in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers lost Romeo Doubs seconds into the game, Aaron Jones left in a boot, and Rashan Gary tore his ACL. This is not what we envisioned for the Packers heading into the season. As for Captain Kirk, anything goes. Kirk Cousins dismissed his former team and now they are in the drivers seat for an NFC North crown. Unlike years past, the Dolphins bring plenty of firepower to the party and give opposing defenses a different look than previous seasons. The Jets came crashing back to earth after a humbling home loss to the Patriots. Tom Brady isn't leading New England they remain well prepared and should around .500 all year. That should be alarming for the Jets as long as Zach Wilson continues to play hero ball. With this defense playing well, Wilson has tried to do too much and has become the weak link. Derrick Henry is trying to run the Titans to another AFC South crown and the Texans obliged. Henry ran wild even after first contact and this took shape without a competent pass attack. Frank Reich and the Colts made a change under center and it didn't pay dividends. Matt Ryan was benched in favor of Sam Ehlinger but the Colts struggled offensively. With the Jaguars losing to the Broncos in London, the AFC South is a complete toss up. A tip of the cap to Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks. After absorbing the loss of Rashaad Penny weeks ago and DK Metcalf early in the Chargers game, Pete Carroll has his boys sitting atop the NFC West. San Francisco is beaten and battered after what Kansas City did to them. The recovery wasn't going to be easy after losing in Atlanta Week 6, but Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes rolled up and down the field Sunday. Without help from its defense or Jimmy Garoppolo the 49ers were destroyed. The New York Jets are pressing the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East and they won a gritty game in Denver, but it came at a price with Breece Hall injured. Meanwhile, their NFC counterpart Giants continued scratching and clawing their way to victory in Jacksonville. It was anything but tough for the Bengals at home against the Falcons. Joe Burrow lit a banged up Atlanta secondary and his cast of receivers ate all day. That wasn't the same story in Baltimore though. A questionable call before the 2 minute warning likely robbed the Browns from drawing even. Lamar looks like he's playing at less than 100% and the Ravens continue their struggles of completely shutting the door on its opponents.
