The Possession of Clara Germana Cele

E

In 1906, Clara, a 16-year-old orphan at St. Michael Mission in Natal, South Africa, began exhibiting strange behaviors. Initially kind and devout, she started talking to unseen entities, claiming she had made a deal with Satan. Her behavior escalated to tearing at her clothes, growling, and speaking in languages she had never learned. Clara also demonstrated clairvoyance, revealing private information about the nuns and other students. Most alarmingly, she was observed levitating up to five feet in the air. As Clara's condition worsened, displaying inhuman strength and violent outbursts, the church decided to perform an exorcism. Rev. Mansueti and Father Erasmus Horner conducted the ritual over two grueling days in front of 170 witnesses.During the exorcism, Clara exhibited supernatural abilities, including body contortions and snake-like transformations. The demon possessing her claimed to be Satan himself, summoned by Clara's dark purpose. The exorcism concluded with Clara levitating one final time before the demon departed, leaving behind a foul stench.Although Clara initially recovered and seemed to return to normal, signs of possession resurfaced in 1907. Nuns observed her making strange noises and levitating again. Father Erasmus returned to perform a second exorcism, which lasted 10 days.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Bermuda Triangle

E

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a vast 500,000 square mile area in the Atlantic Ocean bounded by Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. This region has been the site of numerous mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft over the years, leading to its infamous reputation. The area is prone to powerful weather patterns and is home to one of the deepest ocean trenches on Earth. At least 1,000 people are estimated to have died in the Triangle over the past century. While many paranormal explanations have been proposed, including alien abductions and wormholes, scientists point to natural causes for the Triangle's phenomena.Strong ocean currents like the Gulf Stream, methane gas bubbles, magnetic anomalies, and severe weather are among the leading scientific explanations. Navigation errors and equipment failures, exacerbated by the area's challenging conditions, likely account for many of the reported incidents. Some of the most famous disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle include the USS Cyclops in 1918, Flight 19 in 1945, and the pleasure craft Witchcraft in 1967. These cases remain unsolved, with extensive searches failing to locate any trace of the missing vessels or aircraft. While the Bermuda Triangle continues to captivate the public imagination, many experts argue that the frequency of disappearances in the area is not statistically anomalous given the high volume of traffic through the region.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Demonic Attachment Felix

E

We have 3 listener submissions this week!Story 1-In 2010, Stephanie and her boyfriend's family moved into a spacious rental house that seemed perfect at first. Shortly after moving in, Stephanie experienced a frightening incident in the bathroom when an unseen presence tried to open the door while she was showering.Weeks later, she heard unexplained growling in the hallway, and her boyfriend's mother, Deborah, saw a shadowy figure in her bathroom and kitchen. Throughout their stay, the family encountered numerous unexplained occurrences, including constantly unlocked doors, an unusual accumulation of dead flies, and mysterious symbols etched inside cabinets that weren't there when they moved in.Despite the unsettling experiences, the family stayed in the house for a year before moving out. After leaving the property, Stephanie and her boyfriend's family stopped experiencing paranormal activity.Story 2-Throughout his childhood, Josh experienced several paranormal encounters in his family home, including seeing an elderly man in rags and shadowy figures roaming the halls. At age 5, Josh was so terrified by these nightly apparitions that he would sleep on his mother's bedroom floor, unaware that he was sleep-talking about "black robes" to her.Years later, as a teenager, Josh had a vivid sleep paralysis episode involving a burned figure and a woman instructing him to bleed the radiators, which he seemingly did in reality while asleep. After this incident, Josh developed an unexplained scar on his right shoulder that resembled a burn mark, adding a physical dimension to his supernatural experiences.Story 3-Sophia (anonymous) lived with her brother John and a roommate named Melissa, who claimed to have a demon attachment and practiced occult activities in their shared house. One night, while home alone, Sophia experienced an inexplicable incident where furniture was rearranged and kitchen cabinets were opened without any apparent explanation.A subsequent paranormal investigation revealed the presence of multiple entities in the house, including a potentially malevolent spirit.Following this event, Sophia experienced ongoing paranormal activity, including shadow figures, strange noises, and physical sensations, until she moved out of the house in March 2020, after which the haunting phenomena ceased.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Warped Faces and Shadow Entity

It's listener submission time and we have two creepy tales for you today! In the first story, Chris and his friend Mike were interested in the paranormal and started using a Ouija board. Initially, nothing unusual happened, but then they connected with a spirit named Adam Greene. They asked for signs of his presence, and the planchette spun rapidly and flew off the board. Another time, they heard slow, pounding footsteps behind a sheet hung in the doorway, followed by a flash of light. Over time, Adam's messages turned darker and insulting, and he seemed to shift to an evil persona named "Fuzzy". Paranormal events intensified. Chris had an out-of-body dream where he flew over Mike and his parents. Mike revealed they had all seen a shadow fly over them in real life. Chris believes the entity may have been the demon Zozo based on the double Z in the name, the evil energy, and the bad luck they experienced, including Mike's uncle passing away. Eventually, they stopped using the board as too many disturbing things were happening.Story #2 involves Robin. When Robin was six, his friend Jason's father took them to a cemetery in the woods at 2-3am after giving them beer. They opened a grave, saw a skeleton, then heard loud footsteps and shrieking. Soon after, Robin began seeing terrifying faces peeking into his room at night that would vanish when he looked directly at them. It caused him great fear, keeping him up at night. One time, he woke to see a face at the foot of his bed staring at him, then his covers flew off by themselves. He ran out of the house in terror. At age 16, Robin returned to the cemetery with friends and was chased off by the angry landowner. That night, they all had the same nightmare of a ghostly female figure screaming at them from the disturbed grave. Now at 21, Robin still sees the scary faces and also hears disembodied sounds. Most frighteningly, he sees a tall, pitch-black figure darker than the surrounding darkness appearing in doorways and on the stairs. It sometimes charges at him on all fours before vanishing. Photos never capture this haunting presence. Robin doesn't believe enough in God to get an exorcism, so he is trying to cope with the ongoing supernatural torment.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? He explains his "stacked time" theory, proposing that time is not linear but that past, present and future exist concurrently. Ricksecker suggests some ghostly encounters may actually be "time slips" where two moments resonate at the same frequency. He also shares insights on the unique energy and phenomena of the Alaska Triangle, the possible link between aliens and shadow people, and his view that while some shadow entities may be demonic, interdimensional, or extraterrestrial, we shouldn't overgeneralize them as all being evil. Finally, Ricksecker discusses astral projection and his belief that the key to time travel lies in achieving specific meditative states, something challenging for busy modern lifestyles. His ideas provide an open-ended, thought-provoking perspective on the paranormal.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Kelly Cahill Alien Abduction

E

In August 1993, Kelly Cahill, a 27-year-old mother of three from Victoria, Australia, experienced a life-changing UFO encounter. While driving home from a party with her husband, Andrew, they witnessed a mysterious craft with orange lights in a nearby field.Later that night, they encountered the same object hovering above the road, and as they approached it, they saw figures inside before it disappeared.Suddenly, a bright light engulfed their car, and they experienced a mysterious blackout, losing an hour of time. In the following weeks, Kelly and her husband suffered from various inexplicable symptoms, including headaches, nausea, and fatigue. Kelly discovered a strange triangular mark and a scar on her body. As her memories of the encounter began to resurface, she recalled being approached by tall, thin, black figures with luminous red eyes.Despite the entities' telepathic reassurances, Kelly felt an overwhelming sense of evil and terror. Kelly reached out to Bill Chalker, a renowned UFO researcher, who investigated the incident and discovered additional witnesses who had similar experiences that night. The investigation uncovered physical evidence at the site, including chemical and magnetic anomalies, unusual radiation readings, and inexplicable marks in the field. As Kelly's story gained media attention, she became a prominent figure in the UFO research community. She appeared on television shows, participated in conferences, and authored a book titled "Encounter:The True Story." Despite the incredible nature of her account, Kelly Cahill has been consistently regarded as a credible witness, with no history of mental illness or apparent motive for deception. The Contorting Entity Hugo

E

The Contorting Entity HugoIt's listener submission time again! The listener has requested to stay anonymous, so as always, we got a Sophia story! From a young age, Sophia possessed an innate sensitivity to the paranormal, able to sense the emotions and energy of those around her, including spirits. Despite her belief in ghosts, she had never directly encountered a shadow person until she was 12 or 13 years old. In her bedroom, she began to feel a presence watching her, which she eventually named "Hugo." Initially, the presence seemed benign, but after a series of unsettling events, including a lotion bottle mysteriously moving and recurring dreams of Hugo clinging to her wall with large, black eyes, Sophia's fear grew, forcing her to seek refuge in her sister's room. Sophia's family home in Georgia, shared by her parents, sister, and grandparents, held its own secrets. She always felt nervous in her grandparents' house, hearing strange noises at night that were dismissed as the settling of an old house. As a young adult, while living in a nearby mother-in-law suite with her fiancé, Sophia experienced intense feelings of panic and unease when alone in the main house, particularly while using the bathroom. These feelings eventually subsided, only to be replaced by scratching sounds and other unexplained occurrences. One morning, while Sophia's grandfather was confined to a hospital bed in the living room, she heard knocking and footsteps while showering. The footsteps ran down the hallway towards the spare rooms, but the door, known for its loud creak, never opened. When Sophia emerged from the bathroom, she found the door still shut and her grandfather claiming to have heard nothing.Shaken, she quickly left the house, marking the end of her personal encounters in the family home. Despite the passing of her grandfather, Sophia's grandmother (Nanny) continues to reside in the house, claiming to have friendly encounters with ghosts. Both Sophia and her Nanny have experienced moments that felt like the presence of her late grandfather, leaving them to wonder about the reality of their experiences. Though the fear was genuine at the time, Sophia now reflects on these events with a sense of curiosity and wonder, forever changed by her journey through the paranormal.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch Learn more about your ad choices. Madeleine Arnoux, Marius DeWilde, and Maurice Masse Alien Encounters

E

This week on Believing the Bizarre we have three incredibly alien encounters that took place in France. Our first story takes place in the summer of 1944, when 13-year-old Madeleine Arnoux was on a bicycle ride to pick up food from a nearby farm. During a brief rest in a meadow, she stumbled upon a strange, metallic craft and tiny humanoid creatures dressed in brown one-piece suits. Frozen in fear, Madeleine eventually fled the scene, keeping her encounter a secret for nearly 30 years before finally sharing her story with the world.Fast forward to 1954, when railway worker Marius Dewilde experienced a chilling encounter near his home in Nord, France. One night, his dog's incessant barking led him to discover a strange object and two small humanoid figures near the railroad tracks.Paralyzed by a beam of light from the object, Marius helplessly watched as the beings boarded their craft and ascended into the night sky. In the aftermath of the incident, investigators discovered physical evidence supporting Marius's account, solidifying his place in UFO history. Our final story takes us to the picturesque region of Valensole, France, where farmer Maurice Masse had a close encounter of the third kind in July 1965. While taking a cigarette break, Masse noticed an oval-shaped object landing in a nearby lavender field, accompanied by two humanoid figures. When one of the figures raised a cylindrical device, Masse was struck by a beam that left him paralyzed on the ground. As the figures boarded their craft and flew away, they left behind physical evidence that would later support Masse's incredible story. These three extraordinary French alien encounters serve as a testament to the enduring mystery and allure of UFOs in France and beyond.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Haunted Monte Cristo Homestead

E

Trigger Warning - Animal abuse and suicide The Haunting of Monte Cristo Homestead: Australia's Most Haunted HouseIn the heart of Junee, nestled between Sydney and Melbourne, lies the Monte Cristo Homestead – a place that has earned the reputation of being Australia's most haunted house. The history of this eerie residence dates back to 1885 when Christopher William Crawley, a wealthy farmer and founder of Junee, built the homestead for his family.Despite the initial struggles, Crawley's fortune changed when the Great Southern Railway Line opened in 1878, and he established a successful hotel along the rail line. However, the Crawley family's story took a dark turn following Christopher's death in 1910. His wife, Elizabeth, became a recluse, confining herself to the attic chapel for the next 23 years. After the last Crawley left in 1948, the house fell into disrepair until Reginald and Olivia Ryan purchased it in 1963, transforming it into a doll museum. It was then that the true extent of the homestead's haunting became apparent. The Ryans reported numerous supernatural occurrences, including ghostly lights, the inexplicable deaths of their animals, and the presence of at least ten ghosts.Among these spirits are Christopher and Elizabeth Crawley, a pregnant maid who jumped to her death from the balcony, Harold – a disabled boy chained in the coach room, Morris – a stable boy who died in a fire, Ethel – an infant who died on the stairs, and Jack Simpson – a caretaker shot to death on the porch in 1960.Visitors to the Monte Cristo Homestead have experienced a range of paranormal phenomena, from feeling icy hands on the stairs to hearing the screams of the deceased. The bloodstains of the pregnant maid are said to reappear on the steps, and children become inexplicably agitated when entering certain areas of the house. The haunting of Monte Cristo Homestead has solidified its status as one of the most terrifying and intriguing paranormal locations in Australia, drawing in those brave enough to explore its dark history.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Rotenburg Cannibal

E

The Rotenburg CannibalTRIGGER WARNINGThis episode contains GRAPHIC VIOLENCE/GORE*Armin Meiwes, known as the Rotenburg Cannibal, claimed that his fascination with cannibalism began during his adolescent years, sparked by the fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel." As a tech-savvy individual, Meiwes discovered online communities where people shared their fantasies about cannibalism and even their desire to be eaten. In March 2001, he posted an ad on the "Cannibal Cafe" forum, seeking a willing volunteer aged 18 to 25 to be slaughtered and consumed. Bernd-Jurgen Armando Brandes, a 43-year-old microelectronics engineer from Berlin, responded to Meiwes' ad, agreeing to be slaughtered and consumed. On March 9th, 2001, Brandes traveled to Meiwes' home, where they videotaped the event to prove consent. The gruesome act began with Brandes taking sleeping pills and cough syrup, followed by Meiwes cutting off Brandes' penis, which they both attempted to eat but found too tough.Meiwes then fried some of Brandes' body fat with seasonings, but overcooked the penis, ultimately feeding it to his dog. As Brandes grew weak from blood loss, Meiwes ran a bath for him and checked on him periodically while reading a Star Trek book. After a few hours, Meiwes stabbed Brandes in the throat, killing him. He then hung the body from a meat hook, beheaded and dismembered it, storing parts in his freezer and burying the head in his garden.Over the next 10 months, Meiwes consumed an estimated 44 pounds of Brandes' flesh. In July 2001, Meiwes attempted to lure another victim through online chat rooms. Although he met with five men, he did not kill them, presumably because they did not consent.A college student who had conversed with Meiwes, disturbed by their discussions, reported him to the authorities. Police discovered human remains in Meiwes' freezer and the incriminating four-hour video recording. When questioned, Meiwes admitted to consuming his victim with a bottle of South African red wine, using his best cutlery, and decorating the dinner table with candles. He described the taste as similar to pork. The case of Armin Meiwes remains one of the most shocking and disturbing instances of consensual cannibalism in modern history.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? Glitches in the Matrix with Let's Get Haunted

E

Glitches in the MatrixThis whole "glitch in the matrix" thing has been freaking people out ever since that 1999 movie The Matrix came out.The idea is that our reality isn't real - it's just a simulation. Like, are we actually just minds trapped in bodies, or are we code in some crazy digital world? It really makes you think about whether we even exist or not.Within this supposed simulated reality, weird stuff happens sometimes that just doesn't make sense. Things teleporting across rooms, seeing the same person twice, getting déjà vu - that kind of trippy stuff. It happens fast and then it's over, but it sticks with you, you know? Makes you question what's actually going on.It's not just sci-fi nerds talking about this simulation theory either. Legit scientists like this MIT guy Rizwan Virk have gotten behind it.Virk reckons our universe could basically be a super advanced video game based on physics experiments looking at the building blocks of reality. Crazy, right? But you've got other big brain physicists at places like Harvard saying it's nonsense and there's no proof.Lisa Randall thinks the idea of higher beings making a simulation is just dumb. Still, the whole unknown of it all is pretty mind-bending when you start thinking about dimensions and stuff we can't even comprehend. In the end, whether we reside in a simulated world or not remains an enigma. As we ponder glitches in the matrix and the mysteries of multiple dimensions, we're reminded of the boundless complexities that shroud the nature of our existence, inviting us to explore realms both tangible and beyond.Check out Aly and Nat's podcast, Let's Get Haunted, here: https://www.letsgethaunted.com/welcomePatreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch Learn more about your ad choices. Bigfoot: The Legend of Sasquatch

E

The Legend of BigfootYou've heard the whispers, seen the blurry footage, and maybe even felt a chill run down your spine in the deep woods. Yeah, we're talking about Bigfoot – the legendary creature that's captured millions of imaginations worldwide. But what exactly is this beast, and why does it keep evading scientific proof?Let's dive into the lore surrounding this elusive beast. Bigfoot, aka Sasquatch, is a towering, hairy humanoid said to roam the wilderness, leaving behind tales of its existence from the Pacific Northwest to the far corners of the globe. Despite its widespread fame, Bigfoot remains a cryptid, a creature whose existence hasn't been backed up by solid scientific evidence. It's described as standing anywhere from 7 to 14 feet tall, weighing up to 500 pounds, and covered in shaggy fur. Its face is a blend of ape-like features and human resemblance, adding to the mystique. Known for its bipedal walk and immense strength, encountering Bigfoot is often accompanied by a putrid stench, signaling its presence. Bigfoot sightings are most commonly reported in wooded areas of the northwestern U.S. and western Canada, although variations of the creature exist in folklore worldwide. Indigenous myths often spoke of hairy, wild men inhabiting the forests long before Bigfoot became a pop culture phenomenon. Encounters with Bigfoot are characterized by a sense of being watched, accompanied by an eerie stillness in the woods. Witnesses often report hearing howls, grunts, and the sound of rocks being thrown, adding to the spine-chilling nature of the experience. Some claim to have stumbled upon Bigfoot nests or even witnessed the creature vanish into thin air, fueling speculation about its origins. The history of Bigfoot sightings dates back centuries, with Indigenous cultures and early settlers sharing stories of encounters with giant, hairy beings. In modern times, the term "Bigfoot" gained widespread recognition in 1958, following a series of reported footprints discovered in California's Humboldt County. Since then, numerous sightings, photos, and videos have kept the Bigfoot legend alive. Despite the lack of concrete proof, interest in Bigfoot persists, fueled by eyewitness accounts, tantalizing clues, and ongoing scientific exploration.Whether Bigfoot is a flesh-and-blood forest creature or a mysterious entity traversing dimensions, one thing's for sure – the allure of this elusive cryptid continues to captivate the human imagination. Pete the Poltergeist

E

The Cardiff Haunting of Pete the PoltergeistIn the bustling streets of Cardiff, Wales, during the 1980s, an unassuming lawn mower repair shop became the stage for an extraordinary series of events. John Matthews, owner of Mower Services, found himself thrust into a world of the paranormal alongside his brother-in-law Fred and friend Ian.What started as a seemingly innocuous day of repairing mowers soon spiraled into an encounter with the supernatural. One afternoon, amidst the clang of metal tools, John and his companions were startled by loud bangs reverberating through their workshop. Investigating the source, they found no culprits, only an eerie quiet after the chaos. As wrenches began to swing on their own and stones seemingly hurled themselves, they realized they were not alone. Thus began their encounter with Pete, the mischievous poltergeist. The phenomenon extended beyond the workshop, infiltrating John's home and even catching the attention of local law enforcement. Witnesses reported objects materializing out of thin air and inexplicable swings in temperature.Despite the strangeness of it all, John and his companions found themselves engaging with Pete, playing games and even making requests that the poltergeist oddly seemed to fulfill.Pete's antics ranged from playful to perplexing, with objects appearing and disappearing at his whim. Yet, amidst the chaos, there was a strange sense of camaraderie between the living and the spectral.Despite the skepticism of some, the Cardiff haunting of Pete the Poltergeist remains a curious footnote in the annals of the paranormal. While the exact nature of Pete's existence may forever elude us, his playful interactions serve as a reminder that even in the most mundane of places, the extraordinary can manifest.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch Learn more about your ad choices. The Ruwa Ariel School UFO Incident

E

Back in 1994, something really weird happened at a little elementary school called Ariel School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe. It was just a normal day at this small rural school with only 62 students. But then, during their morning break time, while the teachers were in a meeting, some of the kids saw something crazy in the sky. They said a flat, disc-shaped thing came down from the sky and landed on a hill nearby. The kids rushed over to the edge of the school to get a closer look. That's when they saw some figures coming out of the craft! But just as quickly as it landed, the disc took off again into the sky.At first, the teachers didn't really believe the kids' story. But the students told their parents, and soon people were investigating this "UFO incident" as they called it. When the kids were asked to draw what they saw, they all drew similar pictures of a silver disc and weird alien-like figures.Even though the students were from different backgrounds, they all described seeing basically the same thing.A professor from Harvard named John Mack looked into it and said the kids' stories seemed really credible. Some of them even said they got telepathic messages from the beings during the encounter!Of course, some people tried to explain it away by saying the kids were just making it up or experiencing mass hysteria. But their individual accounts were so detailed and emotional, it made that theory hard to believe. Not all the kids stuck to the same story though. One student named Dallyn later admitted he made his part up initially. But others like Emma and Salma insisted they vividly remembered the whole experience - it wasn't made up at all.Years later, most of those Ruwa students still haven't changed their story about seeing a real UFO that day. Even though some tried to discredit them, the Ariel School incident is considered one of the best and most mysterious UFO cases ever reported by multiple witnesses. So was it just a child's imagination running wild, or did those Zimbabwe kids actually encounter something from out of this world? That's still up for debate over 25 years later!Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch Learn more about your ad choices. Zozo the Demon

E

Zozo: The Ouija Board DemonZozo, the notorious demon associated with Ouija board encounters, stands out among supernatural entities for its alleged malevolent deeds. From documented cases like Darren Evans' ordeal to historical accounts of terrorized individuals, Zozo's presence looms large in paranormal lore, even inspiring cinematic portrayals such as the possessed character in "The Exorcist."The origins of Zozo trace back roughly two centuries, its name is sometimes spelled as "zoso" or "zozo."Despite variations, the entity's sinister reputation persists, often masquerading under aliases like "mama" to deceive unsuspecting users. Notably, Zozo employs manipulative tactics, luring victims into a false sense of security before unleashing unsettling remarks or moving the planchette away from the goodbye, trapping unwary participants.Warnings abound regarding Ouija board usage, with specific cautions against encountering Zozo or its aliases. The list of precautions includes never insulting spirits, avoiding solo sessions, and refraining from using the board in locations with dark histories. There's a whole list of warnings about never using a Ouija board alone, avoiding places with grim histories, and absolutely not provoking Zozo or any spirit entities. If you do encounter that demon, you're supposed to immediately shut down the session the right way to sever any connection.Of course, some people are skeptics and don't believe Zozo actually exists as a real entity. But the tales about its evil doings are so widespread and detailed, it shows how much this paranormal phenomenon creeps people out and captures our imagination about the unknown.Whether Zozo is a legit malicious force or just an urban legend, the story definitely serves as a cautionary warning about messing with occult stuff you may not fully understand. The Exeter Incident

E

The Exeter UFO IncidentIt was around 3am on September 3rd, 1965. This guy named Norman was hitchhiking home to Exeter, New Hampshire, after visiting his girlfriend in Massachusetts. Just a normal night, right? Well, things took a crazy turn when Norman was walking along Route 50 near a local farm owned by a guy named Mr. Dining.Up ahead, Norman noticed these five red flashing lights hovering over the farm. At first, he thought it was just the police. But as he got closer, he realized it was actually a massive, bright object about 80-90 feet wide just floating above the trees! It had all these pulsating red lights but was completely silent as it moved around erratically.Totally freaked out, Norman ran up to a nearby house, hoping to get help from the people living there. But no one answered, even with this eerie red glow from the object lighting up everything around them.A couple driving by ended up rescuing Norman and taking him straight to the police station to report what he saw. You'd think the cops might not believe such a crazy story. But the officer on duty, Reginald Toland, said he'd actually gotten similar reports recently of UFOs being spotted around town - even one chasing after a woman's car!Another officer, Eugene Bertrand Jr., went with Norman back out to the farm, and they both saw this weird object with pulsating red lights rising up silently from behind the trees.Bertrand quickly called for backup, and more officers arrived to see the phenomenon for themselves, including Patrolman David Hunt. With all these credible sightings, the police alerted the nearby Air Force base about the mysterious object. This Exeter UFO experience led to an insane battle between Norman and the police, fighting for their credibility for years to come.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch Learn more about your ad choices. The Manananggal

E

Unveiling the Filipino Haunting: Exploring the ManananggalOriginating from ancient Filipino folklore long before the Spanish colonization, the Manananggal is a haunting creature deeply embedded in the country's mythology. The name, derived from the Tagalog word meaning "to separate," represents a sub-type of the Aswang, a broader category encompassing various shape-shifting malevolent entities in local legend.Among the Aswang's repertoire are vampires, weredogs, witches, and the notorious Viscera Sucker, commonly known as the Manananggal. The Manananggal presents a chilling facade, appearing as an ordinary woman during the day, often deceiving those around her with her disguise. However, come nightfall, her true form emerges, marked by grotesque transformations. With bat-like wings sprouting from her arms, elongated tongues, and razor-sharp teeth, she embarks on a gruesome hunt. The most unsettling aspect of her metamorphosis is her ability to separate her upper body from her lower half, allowing her to fly off in search of prey, leaving her legs behind.Feeding on more than just blood like traditional vampires, the Manananggal's diet includes bodily fluids such as phlegm, with a preference for human organs, especially those of unborn babies.Pregnant women become prime targets for this fearsome creature, often falling victim to its insatiable hunger.Despite its terrifying nature, Filipino folklore offers methods of protection against the Manananggal, including the use of ash, garlic, herbs, and salt to ward off its malevolent presence. The legend of the Manananggal serves as a cautionary tale, reflecting societal values and fears. Its origins may stem from a desire to reinforce community bonds and warn against the dangers of vanity and envy.Additionally, the creature's attributes, such as its wings and elongated tongue, may offer explanations for natural phenomena, such as miscarriages and sudden deaths in the night, in the absence of scientific understanding.Personal accounts shared by individuals add layers of authenticity to the folklore surrounding the Manananggal. Tales of encounters with this supernatural being evoke both fear and fascination, highlighting the enduring power of folklore to captivate and terrify.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Dark Watchers

E

The Dark WatchersFor a long time, the mysterious tall figures known as the Dark Watchers have been part of the stories and legends of the Santa Lucia Mountains in Central California. These huge beings, anywhere from 8 to 15 feet tall, have captured the imagination of locals and historians, with their origins tracing back to the myths of native tribes like the Chumash people. While there's not much about them online, the first recorded sightings of these strange entities date back to the 1700s when Spanish settlers called them "los Vigilantes Oscuros."People who've seen them all describe three main things: their really tall human-like shape, their cloaked appearance, and the walking stick they carry. These shadowy figures with no facial features are often spotted during the golden hour before sunset, ominously overlooking the landscape. The legends say the Dark Watchers are picky about who they appear to - they seem to favor encounters with people hiking the old-fashioned way, without modern gear or guns. While their presence is spooky, witnesses say they're not threatening, just observing without interacting. Famous writers like Robert Jefferson and John Steinbeck featured the Dark Watchers in their works, making them part of California's cultural heritage.Jefferson's poetic descriptions give an eerie, familiar feel, while Steinbeck's mentions show the reverence and caution people feel toward them. Some people try to explain the Dark Watchers with scientific phenomena like pareidolia or the Brocken Spectre effect. But these rational ideas don't really capture the mystique around these ancient beings and why they've stuck in Central California's collective memory.Interestingly, local customs like Olivia Steinbeck leaving gifts for the Dark Watchers hint at a spiritual connection with these elusive mountain guardians. Whether supernatural or natural, the mystery of the Dark Watchers fascinates people and reminds us of the enduring secrets in California's rugged landscapes.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Mojave UFO Incident

E

The Mojave UFO IncidentSteve and Dawn Hess wanted to get away from their busy lives for a bit. They were a married couple looking for some peaceful alone time together. Steve felt uneasy about it but tried not to think too much of it at first. But then things started getting even weirder. That one light became nine lights, all moving in formation across the sky. Krampus

E

The Legend of KrampusThe creepy legend of Krampus has been around for centuries, originating way back in southern Germany, the Swiss Alps, and Western Austria. He's like the chilling opposite of the jolly Santa Claus. Krampus is described as this devilish, horned figure with cloven hooves, symbolizing the harsh winters and struggles for survival in the Alps.Standing a towering 8 to 9 feet tall, with goat horns, fangs, and wild eyes, Krampus strikes fear into kids' hearts to scare them into being good during the holidays. While Santa rewards well-behaved children with gifts, Krampus plays the disciplinary bad cop, punishing those who've been naughty. It's the good versus evil idea, with Krampus representing the punitive side deeply rooted in Christian beliefs about divine judgment - the good get rewarded, the bad get punished.Over time, Krampus has evolved from a folklore character into a full-blown cultural phenomenon, fueled by movies, media, and annual parades where people dress up as the demonic figure and roam the streets. This surge of interest has some folks theorizing Krampus might even be a "Tulpa" - a thought-form kept alive by collective belief and fear. As thousands focus on Krampus each year, his presence just grows stronger, feeding off that potent emotion of fear.On December 5th during the Krampuslauf or Krampus Run, people get drunk and dress as Krampus, running wild through the streets. It's believed that's when the real Krampus emerges to dish out his punishments, from playful spankings with birch branches to the terrifying threat of being kidnapped to eternal damnation.Armed with a black leather bucket for imprisoning his captives, Krampus embodies the darkest childhood - and adult - fears of being punished for misbehaving around the holidays.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? Spontaneous Human Combustion and the Mysterious Death of Madge Knight

E

Spontaneous Human CombustionThe idea of spontaneous human combustion (SHC) has been puzzling and fascinating people since the 1600s. It got really popular after Charles Dickens wrote about a character dying from SHC in his novel "Bleak House."The theory claims that people can just burst into flames from the inside, without any outside spark or fire source. But scientists are pretty skeptical - they point out that the human body is mostly water, with only small amounts of flammable stuff like fat and methane gas.Plus, the crazy high heat needed to reduce a body to ashes doesn't match up with how little fire damage is usually seen around SHC cases.Scientific analyses keep poking holes in the likelihood of SHC. Our bodies are soaking wet on the inside, not exactly tinderboxes ready to combust.Even if someone did randomly catch fire, all that water would probably douse the flames pretty quickly. Comparing it to cremation, which takes temperatures over 1600°F for a long time, makes spontaneous combustion seem highly improbable based on things like tiny cigarette tips as the ignition source. While SHC tales are gripping in novels and urban legends, the scientific consensus leans hard against it actually being a real phenomenon - more like an unsolvable mystery than something that happens. So as fascinating as the whole spontaneous combustion concept is, most serious scientists think it's simply implausible based on human biology and the laws of combustion.Mysterious ashes and burn patterns alone don't override our physical reality. Still, that lingering "what if?" makes spontaneous human combustion an irresistibly spooky idea that will probably keep getting retold for centuries to come. The Somerton Man

E

The Somerton ManIt was this fateful December morning back in 1948 when the calm Somerton Beach near Adelaide, Australia became the site of one bizarre and baffling discovery.A middle-aged man, looking dapper in a clean suit and shiny shoes, was found slumped against the sea wall - and it would ignite a mystery that had investigators stumped for decades to come. At first, folks assumed it was just natural causes, but a closer look revealed some sinister clues pointing to foul play instead. The man's strange circumstances coupled with some real head-scratchers from the autopsy painted it as one meticulously planned crime scene.Eyewitness accounts only added more complexity, with people reporting seeing the man on the beach the night before - making it seem premeditated. But it was the sharp eye of pathology professor John Burton Cleland that really cracked the case wide open.Cleland's scrutiny of the scene found inconsistencies suggesting this was an orchestrated murder, not a sudden death. From the pristine condition of the man's shoes to the lack of vomit that'd indicate poisoning, Cleland's analysis challenged earlier conclusions and steered the investigation in a new direction. Then there was the suitcase found nearby, seemingly belonging to the victim, that hinted at potential ties to maritime travel between Australia and America.Yet no matter how doggedly they traced leads by checking hotels and train stations, the man's true identity stayed a total enigma. With no wallet, no ID, no recognizable traits whatsoever, he became known simply as the "Somerton Man" - cloaked in anonymity and intrigue.Decades later, the mystery lives on, captivating amateur sleuths and forensics experts alike as they keep trying to unravel the secrets buried in those sands at Somerton Beach.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordWant to discuss the episode on the day it drops with Tyler and Charlie? The Enfield Monster

E

The Enfield MonsterIn the quiet town of Enfield, Southern Illinois, the tranquility of a typical evening was shattered on April 25th, 1973, by chilling encounters with a creature that defied explanation. The ordeal began with 10-year-old Greg Garrett's harrowing experience in his backyard, where he encountered a grotesque being with three legs, taloned hands, and large red eyes. His frantic account, corroborated by a neighbor, Henry McDaniel, described a nightmarish entity prowling the vicinity, leaving a trail of fear and confusion in its wake.McDaniel's encounter, occurring just half an hour later, mirrored Garrett's description in chilling detail as he found himself face-to face with the same unearthly creature. Desperate to protect his family, McDaniel resorted to firing at the creature, only to witness its unnerving resilience and agility as it bounded away into the darkness. Both Garrett and McDaniel's reports prompted police investigation, revealing anomalous footprints and scratch marks that defied conventional explanation.Despite the compelling evidence, authorities remained skeptical of the witnesses' accounts, grappling with the implausible nature of the encounters. The enigmatic creature, dubbed the "Enfield Monster," left a lasting impression on the small town, sparking debates and speculation about its origins and intentions.Decades later, the mystery endures, serving as a haunting reminder of the inexplicable phenomena that lurk beyond the realm of human understanding.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merch Learn more about your ad choices.
