Jackie Siegel steps Behind The Rope. Jackie Siegel from the infamous, before its time, Reality Documentary “The Queen of Versailles”. We chat with Jackie about her “rags to riches” story of getting and falling in love with her now husband David. That “rags to riches” story included their decision to build the largest, at that time, private residence house in the United States of America, aptly deemed “Versailles”. What does one do when building the largest private residence? Why, hire a film crew to document the whole event. Duh, obvi. The result was 2012 Sundance Film Festival US Best Directing Award and Critics’ Choice Award Best Documentary Nominee “The Queen of Versailles”. What started out as a film documenting the construction on this residence and the fun lavish lifestyle of the rich and famous Siegels, turned in to somewhat of an expose of extreme wealth in the face of the unexpected economic crisis the country was facing during filming. “Expose” is not an understatement considering husband David’s lawsuit against the finished product.
