Show Notes

Gerard Doyle performs this stand-alone dispatch from Mick Herron’s cynical “spook street” world with such dry resignation that it is often laugh-out-loud funny, or would be if it weren’t so believable. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile’s Robin Whitten discuss how perfectly Doyle narrates this series, laconic at just the right points while also slyly building tension. His vocal control is masterly, and his pacing, range, and attention to detail a perfect match for Herron’s. Fans of Herron’s Slough House novels and new listeners alike will find a lot to enjoy in this latest audiobook.
