凡伯的忠告 忠臣凡伯看不下去，冒著生命危險規勸周厲王，希望他能悔改。他寫詩，以「天之方虐」比喻上天對無道君主的懲罰，並警告那些沉迷享樂的年輕臣子們。
詩句與比喻 詩中有一句：「多將熇熇；不可救藥」，意思是（壞事）多得像火勢熊熊，無法撲滅，無法醫治。
結局 周厲王不聽勸告，最終被人民趕走，再也沒有回來，國家也因此衰敗。
