Controversy erupted in the church, as recorded in Acts 15. Some former Pharisees believed that all non-Jewish Christians were obligated to be circumcised and follow the Old Testament Law. Paul and Barnabas were opposed to that, and a great convention of the disciples, apostles and elders happened, where they prayerfully discussed this issue. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit it was concluded that non-Jews were NOT under the law, with four exceptions.
