What would you do if your child or spouse went to sleep one night and just didn’t wake up. In April 2018, Nikki and Doug Mark experienced this unimaginable horror when their twelve-year-old son Tommy unexpectedly passed away. They still don’t have a medical reason why. Life can change on a dime and Nikki shares her incredible story in the book Tommy’s Field: Love, Loss and the Goal of a Lifetime. In this memoir, Nikki goes on an incredible journey to heal her heart. To honor Tommy and his love for soccer, Nikki created a plan to transform neglected land in a Los Angeles public park into a state-of-the-art athletic field that the whole neighborhood could enjoy. Facing incredible odds including park neighbors who threatened to derail the project, Nikki felt her son’s guidance throughout. Sometimes your greatest pain can be the source of your greatest inspiration.
