A satisfyingly physical job, dividing perennials is just about the easiest way of making new plants. Lifting and dividing is simply the process of digging up herbaceous plants, splitting them into smaller, healthy sections, and replanting them, giving your plants a new lease of life. It's also a brilliant opportunity to move plants or, even better, spread them around your garden for free.
