Bradfo catches up with Justin Slaten, a 26-year-old pitcher who was selected by the Mets in this offseason's Rule 5 Draft before being traded to the Red Sox. Living the life of someone who has six weeks to make a major league roster or get sent back to his previous team (in this case, the Rangers) is an odd one, which is why the conversation with Slaten is an important and intriguing one. Besides having the stuff and history that made Slaten a target of the Sox, another positive aspect of his existence is being able to share a clubhouse with a player who has one of the most successful Rule 5 stories in baseball over the past few years, Garrett Whitlock.
