Sid joins me from Arbol in what I think is one of the most interesting conversations I've had in a while. Arbol utilizes decentralized blockchain technology for parametric insurance. Parametric insurance pays out based on the value of predetermined metrics, instead of based on damages measured by physical inspections. Hence, blockchain technology is used to ensure that predetermined metrics are transmitted from a range of third-party data providers in an immutable, reliable and transparent manner to the insurance coverage enforcing smart contracts. With close to $200B in economic loses associated with natural disaster forecasted for 2020 industry's around the world are trying to get a handle on how to get ahead of the curve and Arbol could be leading the pack.
