It's not every day we get to hang out with the literal newest kids on the block. Brasserie Mellön, founded by friends Alexandre Pontbriand + David Goudreau, opened last weekend (Saturday, May 1st, 2021) in Montreal's Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie after 5 long years of hard work and dedication. Anxious and unsure how they'd be received by the beer-drinking public and the neighbourhood at large, they were greeted with lineups down the street of happy customers welcoming them to the scene.
After visiting a few times during construction and on the launch weekend, Cee had already connected with the boys but we were excited to have them on the podcast to get the full story. David and Alex talk about how the idea came to be, how they funded Alex's brewing school together and made every move as a unit, we ran through Alex's industry experience at Saint Houblon (Alex worked with Chris Needelman, RIP), Beauregard and Avant-Garde (and being mentored by Shawn and Renaud), their impeccable label art and a lot more.
