Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
EThanks to Anthony Basich for commissioning this podcast, and quite frankly, changing our entire mind about the Mad Max franchise. We think 1981's "The Road Warrior", directed by George Miller and starring Mel Gibson, is awesome, and stands up to any of it's 80's action movie brethren in a competition about holding up and entertaining a modern audience. We discuss feral kids, post-apocalyptic sexuality, the economics of a refinery under constant attack, working with animals in the movies, and much more. Thanks again to Anthony B. Contact (1997)
EDid we, in fact, deliver a commissioned podcast on the 1997 Robert Zemeckis science fiction film Contact? Well, all I can say for sure is that we recorded a conversation and released it as a podcast. Your own personal experience with the podcast will have to inform your answer to that question. Special thanks to Henrik Wielechowski who made the inspired choice to pull the trigger on this thought and debate provoking film. The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
EAndrew "The Commissioner" Mount has indicated a fifth movie that needs some Bald Move attention, this time the 2012 horror "The Cabin in the Woods". Written by Joss Whedon and directed by long time collaborated Drew Goddard, and staring the Mighty Thor, it was what I would describe as a pleasant surprise. I was prepared for a stock slasher flick, and what I got was... something more than that. Can't really say much else, and if you're a horror fan who somehow missed this, I encourage you to give it a watch before you give this a listen. On the other hand, if you did enjoy the film, I think you'll really enjoy the works of the SCP. Here are a few articles to get you started. SCP-173 - Potential inspiration for the Dr. Who "Weeping Angels"?SCP-087 - One of the creepier onesSCP-426 - A good example of a more light-hearted entrySCP-231 - Genuinely disturbing use of REDACTEDSCP-294 - A good mix Join the discussion: Email | Forums Follow us: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook Leave Us A Review on Apple Podcasts Learn more about your ad choices. V: The Original Miniseries
ESpecial thanks to Bobby Z for commissioning this 1983 classic piece of original televised cinematic history; V: The Original Miniseries. A.Ron had fond memories of this series from his childhood, while Jim experienced it for the first time. We discuss 80's fashion, television tropes, heavy handed allegory, the plausibility of this as a first contact scenario, and the abject horror of prominent matte lines. Oh, and some pets get eaten and people get their faces torn off. That's pretty scary too, I guess. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Matrix (1999)
EThanks to Jefferson Betmarik for making us pull 1999's The Matrix off our shelves and talk about it. This movie was directed by the Wachowski siblings, and stars Keanu Reeves, Lawerence Fishburne, and Carrie-Anne Moss among others. Jim and I have watched this movie so much, and spent so much time talking about it over the years, so it's no surprise that we were able to easily fill 1:20 with our personal thoughts and observations. What surprised is was how many new thoughts and ideas we had from our latest watch. We had a lot of fun revisiting the movie, and I hope you get a kick out of listening. Thanks again, Jefferson! Shaun of the Dead (2004)
ESpecial thanks to Joel Harris, who ordered us up a classic, the 2004 Zomedy, "Shaun of the Dead". Directed by Edgar Wright, and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, it offers a lot of gore, laughs, and a surprising amount of heart. The guys discuss their history with the film, it's motifs and homages, and where it stacks up against the other films in "the Cornetto trilogy". Thanks again, Joel! The Big Lebowski (1998)
EThis podcast was commissioned by Michael Johnston for his main main Dave in Philly, and what a podcast it is. Jim and I have the sheer delight of watching the sublime Coen Brothers' 1998 film, The Big Lebowski. One of the forerunners of the "slacker noir" genre, Lebowski is hugely entertaining and surprisingly deep film. We talk about Jeff Bridges magic, new shit coming to light, try to figure out Maude, gush about the late, great, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, the downfall of bowling, and much, much more. So thanks once again to Michael and Dave, for giving us an excuse to really drink this film in. Watchmen (2009)
ESpecial thanks to two time Commissioner Andrew Mount for tasking us with the pleasure of watching Watchmen, a 2009 Zack Snyder adaptation of the classic comic book series by Alan Moore. We both love the movie, and talk about our experiences with the comic and the movie, the metaphysical realities of being Doctor Manhattan, the philosophy of the Watchmen's world view, and of course, giant glowing blue dongs. Oh my god, 11 year old me would lose his MIND if he found out. Jim and I are OG Star Wars fans, and have been BSing about it for literally decades. Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
EBig shout out to Freddie C, the man with the balls to drive his truck all the way to Cincinnati, grab his knife out of his boot, and tell us how it was going to be. We were going to hop aboard the Porkchop Express and follow him coast to coast, double fisting sandwiches and spitting the truth about life, relationships, big rigs, and Big Trouble in Little China. In short, we would be preaching the gospel of Jack Burton over the CB airwaves. But problems ensued. Chinese monkey predator monsters. Lightning wielding rice patty farmers. Ancient bastards stealing green eyed woman. Smoldering mystical brews. Then it was all over in a blinding flash of white light. What few lunatic ravings that were able to be preserved, are here on this podcast for your enjoyment. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Wire - Omar Comin' - Commissioned Podcast
EHey there, A.Ron here with a very special commissioned podcast with a unique history and focus. First, thanks to Andrew Stannard for using Subbable to make this all possible, and for working with us patiently on the format of the podcast. Andrew wanted us to talk about The Wire. The problem is, I've got massive plans for a Ultimate Badass Criterion Sapphire The Wire Podcast, and I didn't want to take his money to release an inferior version. So, we compromised. We'd record a podcast about his favorite character, Omar Little, and we'd highlight two episodes that showcase a particular facet of the character, all without doing any major spoilers. I selected episode 206, "All Prologue", and 306, "Homecoming", to show off Omar at his best, and Omar at one of his lowest points. Along the way Jim and I gush about The Wire, why we love it, why it can be hard at times to love, why Omar is such an important character for The Wire in general and pop culture at large, and talk about our favorite moments from these two episodes. I also divulge some details about my upcoming The Wire podcast series, and why it's taking so damn long. Thanks again, Andrew, I hope we delivered the goods! Learn more about your ad choices. ESpecial thanks to Brian G. for commissioning this custom podcast using our Subbable subscription system! Brian decided to have us take a peek at FX's The Americans, episodes 101 and 102, "Pilot" and "The Clock", and we were only too happy to oblige. Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem: A Klok Opera
ESpecial thanks to listener Joel Warner who commissioned this podcast through our Subbable subscription system! This time A.Ron and Jim view the mid-season rock opera, "The Doomstar Requiem". We found it a lot harder to enjoy the Klok's metal fueled concert ways in a single concentrated, extra length dose, despite admiring the concept and execution. Justified Season 4 Finale
EJustified's season finale was so good we had to come out of mothballs to praise it. Seriously, season four of Justified was incredibly satisfying, held it's own against the iconic season two, and in my opinion, has moved into the same neighborhood as Mad Men and Breaking Bad. House of Cards, Arrested Development, Downton Abbey, Girls, Archer, Portlandia, Justified
EEvery time we ask our fellow fans "how can we improve our show?", the number one answer is always, "cover more shows!" Well good news! Now we're covering ALL THE SHOWS! Join us for our first experimental podcast where, instead of doing a single feature show, we spend a few minutes talking about all the stuff we're watching. Honestly, this is a little shaky, and it will probably take a few weeks for us to get our footing and figure out how to pace the show and work in feedback optimally. The bad news is that our feature show, the "Justified Podcast" is being decommissioned to make room in our schedules for this new mash-up show. But fear not, talking about Justified is still a priority at Bald Move HQ, and it gets the lion share of the time in the cast. Note that we are still planning on doing featured shows for "Game of Thrones", "Mad Men", "Breaking Bad", as well as "The Walking Dead", but we hope to keep this new show going year 'round. Speaking of time, to make it easier to skip around to find the stuff you like we're including the timecodes for each segment in the show notes, like so: 00:00:30 -- Discussion of new format 00:02:10 -- Netflix presents "House of Cards" and "Arrested Development" 00:06:30 -- Downton Abbey 301 00:09:30 -- Girls preview 00:10:10 -- Archer preview 00:13:00 -- Portlandia 301 and 302 00:18:48 -- Justified 401 -- "Hole in the Wall" 00:35:00 -- Outro Learn more about your ad choices.
