Show Notes
Yaquelin Acosta, a first-generation senior at Arvin High School, has made history by becoming the first from her family to attend college, securing a spot at Yale University. Despite the odds, she excelled academically and secured a place among the 2,300 students accepted from nearly 55,000 applicants. Her mother, Maria Guadalupe, who immigrated from Mexico and works in the fields, is incredibly proud of her daughters achievement. Yaquelin plans to study theater, dance, and performance studies, with a possible double major in math, and aspires to direct local plays and make it on Broadway.
