Former Cal State Bakersfield basketball coach Kevin Mays faces severe charges, including pimping, pandering, possession of assault weapons, drug possession, and child sexual abuse material. Arrested in September 2025, police found firearms, drugs, and related items in his car and apartment. Mays allegedly supplied a woman with hotel rooms, rental cars, and condoms for her sex work, promising to help with her school plans. In exchange, she sent him earnings and he promoted her services and provided protection. The case began with an anonymous tip from the womans previous pimp. Digital searches of Mays phone revealed child sex abuse material, and weapons and drugs found during the searches led to additional charges. The preliminary hearing resumes Wednesday in Kern County court.
