Winds pick up Friday evening through Saturday night, especially in higher elevations and drier spots. High wind watch issued for Tehachapi mountains, Mojave Desert slopes, and Kern County desert. Wind advisory for Kern River Valley. Strong northeast gusts could reach up to fifty miles per hour in the mountains and seventy in the desert. Drivers, take extra care.
