Show Notes

A duck that has been called the "world's rarest duck" and was declared extinct in 2004 had a rising-from-the-ashes moment when conservationists found a flock on a remote Madagascar lake...

But this wasn't the end of the Madagascar pochard's tribulations, as when the species was saved, their new habitat was destroyed.

Chris Ransom, the Durrell Wildlife and Conservation Trust's Field Programmes Director, spoke to Bailiwick Podcasts about the charity's work bringing back the duck - and a whole lake while they were at it.
