Colonel John Blashford-Snell CBE, who grew up in Jersey, is one Britain's greatest living explorers, having undertaken more than 100 expeditions over the past 50 years to far-flung corners of the world for the purposes of scientific research and community aid.

Formerly of the Royal Engineers, Colonel John Blashford-Snell was responsible for mapping some of the last unknown corners of the world during hair-raising expeditions which saw him battling rapids on the Blue Nile and crossing the entire American continent in a pair of Land Rovers. 

In this episode of The Interview, we discuss his many exploits, his attempt to ward off bandits on the Nile with a bribe of Mars bars, the invention of white water rafting and we'll even get an insight into the early days of Britain's most famous astronaut, Tim Peake...
