Today's jargon is Least Restrictive Environment. IDEA states that children with disabilities have a right to a free, appropriate, public education in the least restrictive environment that offers a floor of opportunity to access the curriculum. Determining the least restrictive environment that is appropriate can be challenging, but it is worthwhile.
