The way mother nature toys with our imagination. Starting first with weather. A Cold December day that looks, feels and smells like snow. It didn't. But in less than 30 days ice storms and 11 inches of snow pummeled this collection of trees.

How did we get into this mode of wanting to own everything? I think we hear our egos more than we hear anything else. We are challenged by culture. What about a higher plan? A daily choice. A work of art that's carefully crafted but nowhere near perfection.

All we hear about at work is how bored people are. They're tired of giving to needy bosses. Upset that favoritism is rampant and for some sick reason you still can't figure out the winning combination at work. Ummm maybe the problem isn't them but rather you.

So many questions. Or are they statements? Visions of the Frida/Phil Collins song There's Something Going On have entered my soul. Every day we bathe in the stench of something trying to pull the wool over our face. We're told how to trust, have hope and rejuvenate our faith. Others aren't so in tune with your open wings. Thew truth... the tools and toys we invest money into daily are made to be broken. They know consumers will come back to buy it again or something else. How do you keep your calm?

The heat has been replaced by cold. Night becomes day. Questions with no answers. Rich versus poor. The melting pot has become staged and spoiled. All these years in this forest and somehow every family had a different name to this lake. Swan? Silver? Now Ivey? What should we know about this body of water?

It makes me laugh to hear how we are to position our hearts in the present yet many of us choose not to listen. It feels safer to sit in areas of thoughts that can be easily rewritten. That doesn't make it right. What about preacher people who share their interpretation of the stories? This isn't a challenge. It's awareness! What is shaping us? What do we mentally and physically need to make available to grow in focus as well as moving forward?

A sweltering hot summer day brings out all the living things inside a forest. Is the human the only one complaining?

It's a tough one to bite into. While growing up in the 70's and 80's I rarely if ever heard a teenager bitch about being exhausted with life and its daily challenges. Today, everybody, every age group is bitching, moaning and complaining about not having enough fuel to grow forward. WTF?

No day passes that we aren't sitting within the four walls of uncertainty. This puts us in the center of the story. We know how to get to the opposite side of the hurricane's eye. Then what? More storms? Nothing keeps us from being torn apart by the elements of the world. While walking through our lives are we nothing more than those we see strolling through something like a grocery store? But because you're wearing a company shirt, you feel sort of disconnected from their world. Trust me, you're still one of them. Enjoy where age has brought you. It's about the experience.

The typically peace filled daily walk through the forest has put Jazzie and I face to face with true crime. Who killed the opossum? The blood, the blunt hit, the way the body is positioned. We have a true crime scene inside Ernie's forest.

Joe Cocker and the Beatles once sang about needing a little help from a friend. When the times are a changing, we no longer see the image of Bob Dylan. It plays hard on us like the thunder that only happens while it's raining. Ask Stevie Nicks. We can't go on if AC/DC is standing in the way with Hells Bells and a Highway of Hell. Funny how we can turn the songs we sing into our own little stories. Yet we can't seem to reach for the lyrics from a well-studied book of life and love. People still have a hard time envisioning that I played 1,700 seedlings into the surface of this forest floor in 1997. I'm shocked by the acceptance of the challenge as well. It's documented with photographs in my daily writing. The greatest lesson I learned putting those trees into the soil was how you should never never never trust a forest floor.

How did we get here? Always asking for a little more. It reminds me of the movie Oliver when the orphan wants a little more porridge. Understanding the fine art of knowing too much is too much. The daily calling has to shift toward peace and calm. Facing not just our I Wants but everyone associated with you. It's a valuable tool! Respecting what you have in the present.
