Vocabulaire: "will" marks the future tense "must" is used for "il faut" expressions "can" is the verb "pouvoir" in French "should" is the verb "devoir" in the conditional tense in French "could" is the verb "pouvoir" in conditional tense in French "would" marks the conditional tense for other verbs To make a question with an auxilliary verb, use the following pattern: Aux. verb + subject + main verb + ... For example... Will he help us? (Est-ce qu'il nous aidera?) To make a negative statement with an auxilliary verb, negate the auxilliary verb, not the main verb. Also, most of them become contractions when negative. will not = won't must not = mustn't (but often in the negative is left as "must not") can not = can't should not = shouldn't could not = couldn't would not = wouldn't For example... She won't appreciate the museum. (Elle n'appréciera le musée.)
