Scripture warns us about it, so we need to be prepared and have a scriptural response. Our God is the righteous judge and David's response was to pray to that righteous judge and not retaliate himself.
"When you have integrity, you have nothing to hide."
David ends the Psalm by thanking the Lord for His righteous judgement. He does not give thanks for his unfortunate circumstances. There's our model.

Safety From Enemies

"Safety From Enemies" is what Psalm 3 is all about.
There are many editorial comments from different translations of the Bible - however the following sub-title "A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son." is part of scripture and doesn't change across the translations.

"Selah" is used throughout the Psalms and means to pause or praise.
After verses 1-2, is the word Selah, and then in verse 3 David shifts his focus from his enemies to God.
Taking moments to pause allows God to speak to us.

God answers our prayers in His perfect timing. (Yes, No, Wait)
In this Psalm, God answered David's prayers.
1) David slept (no anxiety)
2) David woke up (was not killed in his sleep)
3) David is not afraid. (confident in God's protection/plan)

David also had compassion on his enemies, forgiving them.

Join us next Sunday on Easter to celebrate the risen Savior, Jesus Christ!

"The King of Kings"

Psalms 1-2 is the Preface into the whole book of 150 poems. The 2nd Psalm will show a revolt of the wicked against God.
Outline:
1) Persecuted Christians (v.1-3)
2) Promises of God (v. 4-12)

"People in high places are plotting against God and his Anointed Son.
Luke identifies David as the author of the Psalm and plainly states that Jesus is the Anointed (4:23-31) which leaves no doubt that Psalm 2 is written about Jesus!

Verses 10-12 close with a warning to the wicked to fear God. "the wicked will get a divine whooping like an iron rod shattering a clay pot. The righteous will be safe on the holy hill of Zion.
Psalm 1 & 2 are a picture of the gospel!

God looks through that first color (red being the top color of the rainbow) at His children here on earth, redeemed by the blood of Jesus if we accept His forgiveness for our sin.
