Show Notes

Senior fitness specialist Tracy Cromwell is a certified behavioral and nutrition coach and personal trainer. In this segment, Tracy talks about how our bodies change as we age. There are different states: chronological biological, and functional aging. Chronological aging is how long we've lived. Biological aging is the amount of decline evident in our tissues and organ systems. Functional aging is measured by the use of attributes such as our mobility, appearance, our strength and mental capacity, and the declines are independent of illness. There's also secondary aging, resulting from the effects of environment and illness. Everybody ages differently. The body wants to heal itself, and we are caretakers of our bodies.
