What is Advent?
It is almost time for the Season of Advent, the 4 Sundays leading up to the Feast of Christmas. In Advent, we light 4 candles, one successively each Sunday, and we anticipate the birth of Jesus ... but, wait. Hasn't Jesus already been born?? What are we waiting for?? Advent teaches us the holy power of anticipation and the joy of looking to the eschaton - and we promise, that's probably not what we think it will be.
