Jesse Terry, an Anishinaabe musher from Sioux Lookout, Ontario, has been named Rookie of the Year in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Despite facing harsh conditions, including flipped sleds and darkness, Terry and his team of twelve dogs completed the thousand-mile trek to Nome, Alaska in ten days, thirteen hours, and thirty-six minutes. This impressive performance, coupled with his third-place finish in the Yukon Quest last year, has boosted Terrys confidence for future challenges in Alaska.
