Palmer City Takes Over Golf Course: A New Era Begins
After failing to renew a contract with the longtime operator, Palmer City is now managing its golf course directly. The citys community development department will oversee the seven thousand two hundred yard course and clubhouse, marking the first time in decades that it wont be run by a private company. The change comes after months of negotiations over legal and compliance issues, which ultimately led to the contracts termination. The city plans to rehire staff and aim for a 2026 summer opening, while the former operator, George Collum, wishes them well and plans to move on.
