Show Notes

Kim Heacox, a conservationist and writer, has spent decades celebrating Alaskas wild spaces through his books and photos. Influenced by Thoreau and Leopold, he challenges readers with big questions about our planet and progress. Born in Idaho, Heacox survived burns as a toddler and later became a ranger in Glacier Bay. He published his first book in 1991 and has since written about the Iditarod, Denali, national parks history, and novels. Now in his eighties, Heacox continues to write, urging us to step into the dark and write toward the light.
