Show Notes
Karl Von Imhof, a German immigrant, rose from humble beginnings to become the father of Alyeska, transforming a local ski resort into a world-class destination in Alaska. After losing his parents during World War Two, he built a career in hospitality before moving to the U.S. and eventually landing in Alaska. Despite the terrifying Good Friday Earthquake in 1964, Von Imhofs resolve only grew stronger. Under his leadership, Alyeska Ski Resort flourished, hosting international events and earning global recognition. His journey from postwar struggles to global hospitality success is chronicled in his 2021 book, Today Alyeska, Tomorrow Zee World.
